Fastball - The Way

Music Appreciation

Released in February 1998, "The Way" by Fastball is considered on of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 1990s by VH1.

Written by Tony Scalzo, the song was inspired by a story about an elderly married couple who left their home and were later found hundreds of miles away dead.

The song begins with a radio scan through FM stations. The music video, which was directed by McG, features the band watching themselves on TV driving around in a convertible, performing with flamenco dancers, then on onstage in a 1950's setting, then watching Tony Scalzo jump off a building and landing on his back on top of a vehicle playing his bass guitar.

Cows and Humans can live together

Cows and Humans can live together. That's the moral of the story I got out of the amazingly humorous audience-driven Story To The Death.

It had been years since I have been to an improv. The last one, I remember watching a comedy improv show at the Cap Comedy Club in north Austin. However, this was a bit different in that Story To The Death is a musical.

Yes, musical. The improv troupe presents five different stories. With the help of the audience, one story survived--a story about smart cows revolting against cowpokes.

Needless to say, these creative and talented troupe kept me entertained throughout. There was never a time I wasn't either laughing or smiling.

Check them out at The Hideout, http://www.hideouttheatre.com/shows/StorytotheDeath.

#tbt to one of my very first pieces on panel. I was still experimenting with this new medium, which I happened to find by mistake back in college. I still remember questioning whether or not my sister would like it, and if I should even gift it to her for Christmas. I doubted myself SO much as an artist, and showing my work (even to friends and family) would put me in such a vulnerable place. Today, this painting sits on her living area and is by far one of my most popular prints. That’s us dancing away like we used to, every. single. weekend. rooming together in a little one bedroom apartment, new to Austin (AND the U.S.)💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Such fun memories! #sisters . . . . . #tango #art #artist #dancers #womanartist #femaleartist #mixedmedia #woodpainting #woodpanel #woodstain #atxartist #acrylic #colorfulart #contemporaryart #women

How is it that now at my age I find Deee-Lite, aka Kierin Magenta Kirby, extremely attractive?

In the 90s, I gravitated towards R&B and Rap. So, at an early age, before he became recognized as "Will Smith," I was a big fan of The Fresh Prince. And Ralph Tresvant guided me throughout my romantice life with his Sensitivity lyrics.

Deee-Lite - Groove Is In The Heart
Gerardo - Rico Suave
Black Box - Strike It Up
Tesla - Signs
Heavy D & The Boyz ft. Aaron Hall- Now That We Found Love
Enigma - Sadeness Part I
Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner
Rod Stewart - Rhythm of My Heart
Scorpions - Wind of Change
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Summertime
Lenny Kravitz - It Ain't Over Til It's Over
R.E.M. - Losing My Religion
Natural Selection - Do Anything
Londonbeat - I've Been Thinking About You
Ralph Tresvant - Sensitivity
