Henri Cartier-Bresson

Photography Appreciation

Born on August 22, 1908 in Chanteloup-en-Brie, east of Paris, French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson is known for his photojournalism and street photography.

Perhaps of his many photographs, my personal favorites are those he captured to tell a story. For example, in 1948, before Communism took over China, he captured the anxiety of people trying to get gold from the banks. Another of his photos caught the love between mother and son after the son returned from war.

You can learn more about him HERE.

Jerome Lagarrigue

Art Appreciation

Featured on the cover of a legal progressive organization's publication called Teaching Tolerance is a portrait of Martin Luther King, Jr. The portrait was painted by French painter and illustrator Jerome Lagarrigue.

I came across Lagarrigue's work while surfing the artsy forager. The blog looked at Lagarrigue's close-up paintings of eyes. Interested, I researched Lagarrigue and his art.

You can see more of his wonderful works HERE.

TryHardNinja' - "Take Back the Night"

I'm a bit late to come across this music video. I heard my son listening to this song and quickly asked what he was listening to. He was listening to a TryHardNinja's "Take Back the Night," a song that hit the Billboard's Dance/Electronic songs chart.

Frode Nyboe

Art Appreciation

Often I try to capture with my camera the magical scene created by rain. It's practically impossible to also grab that mystical feeling too. Norwegian artist Frode Nyboe, however, accomplishes both with his paintings.

Known to use acrylics as his medium, Nyboe captures and presents the landscape as if viewing it with his own eyes. The viewers can easily immerse themselves in the paintings.

See more of his beautiful artwork HERE.
