Théobald Chartran

Art Appreciation

I came across an amazing painting of a young girl seated nude on sheep skin, covered with a shawl and playing a mandore musical instrument.

The painting is by French propaganda painter Théobald Chartran. Born on July 20, 1849, Chartran was known for painting figures representing historical scenes. He also was considered a favorite portraitists of elegant society.

You can view more of his wonderful work HERE.

Chris Wallace ask Putin tough Question

Chris Wallace had a one-to-one interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin following a joint press conference between the presidents of the United States and Russian, and he didn't shy away in asking a very serious question.

Wallace: Why is it that so many people who are political enemies of Vladimir Putin are attacked?

Putin: First of all, all of us have plenty of political enemies. I'm sure that President Trump has many political rivals.

Wallace: But they don't end up dead?

Putin: Not always. Well, has Presidents been killed in the United States. Haven't you forgotten about... Has Kennedy been killed in Russia or the United States? And Mr. King... And what happens to the clashes between police and civil society of several ethnic groups... well, that happens on the U.S. soil. All of us have our own domestic set of problems. But going back to Russia, yes we do have crime... in some extent Russia's statehood is maturing and there are some side affects and we persecute people responsible for these crimes. But since you mentioned this Skripal case, we would like to get at least some sort of a document evidence about it but nobody gives it to us."
