Photography Appreciation

There was a point in my life that I did want to be a fashion photographer. I had seen photos by Herb Ritts as well as Helmut Newton. However, to see photos by Helmut Newton, a young teenage boy had to try very hard to find them--there was a time when the library was a better source for finding "artistic" pictures than the Internet.

The German-Australian photographer was known for his provocative and erotic black-and-white photos. Although he was recognized as an influential Hollywood photographer, many of his most popular photos were of nude women and sadomasochism.
