Emily Galusha


Art Appreciation

If you find yourself at Canopy, the art community complex in Austin, you'll know Emily Galusha's art studio. Look for the paintings of floating buffalo, antique pistols, and birds surrounded by art enthusiasts and admirers.

Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Emily Galusha is a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer, inspired by the Southwest and country life.

Annalise Gratovich


Art Appreciation

"It's a Gratovich," I whispered to my friend as we were visiting the Elisabet Ney Museum in central Austin. Sure enough, the print is by Austin printmaker Annalise Gratovich.

Gratovich is a well-known and respected printmaking artist knwon for her woodcuts of powerful and symbolic images.

Paul Émile Chabas


Art Appreciation

Paul Émile Chabas is considered one of Europe's greatest painters of nudes. He was born on March 7, 1869 in Nantes, France.

Chabas trained under William-Adolphe Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury. He won several recognition and prizes such as the Prix National at the 1899 Paris Salon.

Spandau Ballet - True


Music Appreciation

You've probably heard Spandau Ballet's True in a pivotal scene in a movie or TV episode. It was first featured in Sixteen Candles (1984).

The song was originally released in March 1983 by British band Spandau Ballet. The song charted on the UK Singles Chart and US Billboard Hot 100.

Ethan Azarian


Art Appreciation

I came across Ethan Azarian's work during the Big Medium East event last fall.

The visual artist and musician, Ethan Azarian, is the co-founder of Blue Cow Studio. The studio exhibits the work of Texas based artists as well as his and his wife's (Melissa Knight) work.
