Madonna and Beeple Collaborate NFT for Charities

Madonna Appreciation

Since I was a kid I was fascinated with Madonna. Like the kid in the music video Open Your Heart, I was in love with Madonna. Express Yourself and Vogue hit right in time for puberty. Justify My Love had me questioning my sexuality.

So, I'm not a bit surprised of Madonna's new project. In fact, I feel it's a bit late. But regardless, her collaboration with Beeple to created NFTs for a good cause is innovative. Plus, it's kinda sexy.

She explained, "We set out to create something that is absolutely and utterly connected to the idea of creation and motherhood... I'm doing what women have been doing since the beginning of time, which is giving birth. But on a more existential level, I'm giving birth to art and creativity, and we would be lost without both."

The NFTs titled Mother of Nature, Mother of Evolution, and Mother of Technology, went on auction on SuperRare, a crypto art marketplace. Proceeds go to National Bail Out, V-Day, and Voices of Children.

Texas' Falkenstein Castle

When the world was closed during the early part of the pandemic, 2020, my girlfriend and I noticed a castle in the distance while hiking Longhorn Cavern State Park. The sight triggered our curiosity; however, we soon forgot about it when we returned to Austin.

Recently, I came across an article on El Paso's KLAQ radio station's website that highlighted a castle in the Hill Country--the one we saw on our hike. If you aren't familiar with the Hill Country, it's the area west of Austin that is... well... hilly.

The article included a YouTube video by Kara and Nate, a young globetrotting couple from Tennessee, who stayed at the castle.

In the video, Kara explains that the castle, which is called Falkenstein, was inspired by King Ludwig II's Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Further research finds that the owners, Terry and Kim Young, used a design by King Ludwig II for his other castle, Falkenstein, which didn't get fully built.

The 20,000 sq. ft. castle sits on 113 acres of land located about 13 miles west of Burnet, Texas.

The cost? Well, as the video photo shows, it'll set you back a little over a couple of grand. So, round up eight couples, and the place can be affordable. 😉

Billy Crystal's Opening Monologue at the 65th Academy Awards Ceremony

Actor and comedian Billy Crystal hosted the 1993 Academy Awards Ceremony, for the fourth consecutive time. A memorable quote from that monologue was directed to Jack Nicholson, "I love Jack... he's sitting right there, smiling at me. I feel like a Laker girl. It's unbelievable."

Elon Musk's Vision of Becoming a Multi-Planetary Species

Elon Musk introduced the BFR, a spacecraft that can be used for intercontinental and interplanetary transportation. His vision sees this rocket capable of not only flying people across the earth in less than an hour, but also transporting people to the red planet, Mars.
