Fidel Molina

Art Appreciation

I follow several art blogs, which provides me ideas for my next entry. For example, a few months ago, La Conchiglia di Venere highlighted Spanish painter Fidel Molina.

After being mesmerized by the beautiful lady in his watercolor painting titled En el Estudio, I had to learn more about the painter.

Born on July 3, 1971, Molina is known for his realistic paintings of beautiful naked women, and whose art work can be seen in film, TV and various print productions.

You can see more of his amazing work HERE.

Gérard Schlosser

Art Appreciation

As a kid traveling with my parents, Sundays were usually spent at art museums. Although I'm not an artist, an appreciation for art has since developed.

I came across art work that reminded me of Tom Wesselmann. In fact, I thought it was a Wesselmann when I first saw the painting, but in fact it was an art piece created by French painter Gérard Schlosser.

Born in June 1931, Schlosser is known for his hyper-realistic of body parts. His technique is capturing close-ups of intimate moments and projecting them onto canvas.

You can see more of his work HERE or watch a compilation video of his work HERE.

Nine Inch Nails - Closer

Music Appreciation

WARNING: Graphic and Inappropriate Language

Twenty years ago, Closer was released. It was the second single from Nine Inch Nails' album The Downward Spiral.

The song came out the summer I graduated from high school, and I remember driving in my blue Pontiac Sunbird, with my girlfriend Cathy and her friend Wendy singing "You let me violate you..." then the chorus "I want to fuck you like an animal."

This was a big deal, because the lyrics were dark but sexual. Mark Romanek, the director for the music video, brought life to Trent Reznor's volatile lyrics with dark images of sex, animal cruelty, and religion.

Cathrine Langwagen

Art Appreciation

I came across a series of digital art by Cathrine Langwagen titled "Elements" from a blog I follow, Calvin's Canadian Cave of Cool. The Elements series depicts five--although, Calvin's blog only showed four--elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Fire. I'm showing three of of the Elements I like the most below.

These are only just a few of the many wonderful digital art Langwagen does. The Swedish artist is also known for her sci-fi and fairy-tale background environments. Many of which have been used for gaming.

Check out her website, http://www.cassiopeiaart.com.
