20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1916)


Film Appreciation

Based on the novel written by Jules Verne in 1870, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea became the first silent film to be filmed underwater.

The film, which was directed by Stuart Paton, starred Allen Holubar as Captain Nemo and Matt Moore as Lieutenant Bond. It was released on December 24, 1916 by Universal Film Manufacturing Company (now Universal Pictures).

Marc Lagrange


Photography Appreciation

On Christmas Day 2015, fine arts photographer Marc Lagrange was killed in a golf cart accident in Tenerife, Spain's Canary Islands.

Born in Kinshasa, Congo in 1957, Lagrange was known for his photographs that explored intimacy and eroticism. He is known for his large Polaroids that provides the viewer a sense of intimacy to the model.
