Jason Juan
Art Appreciation
Born in Taichung, Taiwan in 1977, Jason Juan is a contemporary artist known for the expressive figurative work that merges Chinese calligraphy into figure drawing.
After receiving a degree in Mathematics, he decided to enroll in the Art Institute of Seattle and pursue art.

Chris Marker
Photography Appreciation
French writer, photographer, and documentary film director Chris Marker was born on July 29, 1921.
Marker was a student of philosophy prior to him joining the French Resistance known as The Maquis. After the war, Marker began a career in journalism, writing political commentaries and short stories. In the 1950s, he began experimenting with photography and film.
His first film, Olympia 52 was a feature documentary about the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games. However, Marker is best known for his films La Jetée (1962) and Le Joli Mai (1963).
He passed away on July 29, 2012 at the age of 91.

Written by Mike Stock, Matt Aitken, and Pete Waterman (aka SAW) and sung by British singer Rick Astley, "Never Gonna Give You Up" was released on July 27, 1987. It topped music charts in 25 countries.
The music video, which was directed by English film director Simon West, shows Rick Astley singing and dancing in various outfits and venues around west London.
