Govert Flinck


Art Appreciation

Dutch painter Govert Flinck was born on January 25, 1615 in Kleve (now Germany). He was a pupil of Rembrandt, he then followed Peter Paul Rubens, a well-known Flemish artist, which helped him get commissions for official and diplomatic paintings.

Édouard Manet

French impressionist painter Édouard Manet was born on January 23, 1832. He is considered as a revolutionary artist and one of the first 19th-century artist to paint modern life.

Elliot Rogers


Art Appreciation

I met Elliot Rogers one evening while leaving the Black Star Brewery in North Austin. His gallery was having an opening. Music was playing, beautiful girls were dancing, and the artist was explaining his psychedelic work to viewers.

Echo and the Bunnymen - The Killing Moon


Music Appreciation

The Killing Moon is a song written by Echo & the Bunnymen's lead vocalist Ian McCulloch. The song was released on January 20, 1984.

In an interview, Ian McCulloch indicated that he woke up with the chorus, "fate, up against your will," in his head.
