Music Appreciation
Bohemian composer Adalbert Gyrowetz wrote more than 60 symphonies and over 30 operas and singspele.
Born on February 20, 1763 in Budweis, he studied music from his father. He then moved to Prauge and then Brno, where he began to compose symphonies. In 1785, he moved to Vienna and met Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart--Mozart was performing one of Gyrowetz' piece.
Throughout his life, he continued to travel around Europe meeting some established and well-known composers, including Joseph Hayden.
In 1804, he was appointed Vice-kapellmeister of the Court Theatre in Vienna.
