Pardon the Interruption
It's a game changer, indeed. A few weeks ago, after immense pressure from his party following a disastrous debate performance, President Joe Biden called off his campaign for a second term and endorsed his VP, Kamala Harris. This move shocked everyone, especially the Republican Party and Donald Trump. Up until Biden's announcement, Trump and his crew were hammering away at Biden's age and alertness. My guess is, a lot of cash was spent on anti-Biden messaging, and now the Trump campaign will have to cough up more funds to go after Harris. We all know Trump hates spending money he could've used for other things, like legal expenses.
This also shakes up the race's dynamics: now, we have a middle-aged woman of color running against a white elder. The Trump campaign and its supporters are scrambling to criticize Harris without mentioning her race or gender, sticking to calling her a "liberal." Meanwhile, Harris is reminding voters of her background as a prosecutor and her experience taking down crooks and felons, like Donald J. Trump.
Needless to say, this summer has been pretty wild. We started with Biden struggling to gain support and momentum, then Trump almost being assassinated, followed by Biden announcing he wouldn’t seek re-election, then Trump's VP choice not humping a couch, to Harris re-energizing the Democratic Party.
Buckle up, folks; it's going to be an interesting ride!
