Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - You Got Lucky

Music Appreciation

On October 2, 2017, we lost a music legend, Tom Petty. To mark the musicians' 67th birthday, the City of Austin declared October 20th as "Tom Petty Day," and Sun Radio 100.1 FM in Austin dedicated the whole day to celebrate his contribution to music.

Released on October 22, 1982, You Got Lucky was the first single from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Long After Dark album. The song reached no. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and no. 1 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart.

Directed by Jim Lenahan, the Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic music video shows Tom Petty and Mike Campbell, who are then accompanied by the rest of the band, come across a boombox and bring to life a music studio found under a tent.
