Film Appreciation
Inspired by a true story, K-19: The Widowmaker was released to theaters on July 19, 2002. The drama thriller film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starred Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson.
The film is based on real life events written by Peter Huchthausen's book K-19: the widowmaker: the secret story of the Soviet nuclear submarine.
K-19 is considered one of the most expensive independent films to-date, costing $100 million to produce and grossing about $65 million.
